Board of Directors
I’ve lived in the community since 2003. I’m dedicated to fostering a transparent, inclusive, and responsive community where every member's voice is valued and heard. Ensure the board operates with integrity, consistently prioritizing the community's needs above personal agendas. Ensure all members are treated equally, and rules are enforced uniformly, free from personal bias. I will hear you!

I have lived in Wedge Wood since 2018 and serve on the Board to help the community move in a better direction than before. My time on the Board has been devoted to modernizing the business operations, including how we pay HOA fees, to electronic voting, and ensuring members have access to Board and members’ meetings through live streaming and recorded video.

I've lived in Wedge Wood since 2014. Over the past several years, I have been an active and vocal advocate for homeowners to encourage participation and to assist members in understanding their rights and responsibilities. My goal has always been to work toward a more resident-friendly community built on financial oversight and practical solutions to issues that affect our daily lives. I will work hard to achieve those goals.

I have been involved with Wedgewood for 40 years and have lived within the community with my husband for the past 10 years. I’ve always been involved with charity organizations and helping the local community. I’ve held all levels of retail management, from assistant store manager to director of retail operations, and will bring the same business acumen that guided me throughout my career to the board. I am looking forward to what the future holds for our community.

What it means to serve on the Board
Serving on the HOA Board of Directors means becoming a strategic leader and financial steward of the community's collective assets. Board members have a fiduciary duty to act in the best interest of the entire association. This requires dedication, transparency, and a commitment to ongoing work.
Key Responsibilities
- Legal & Governing Document Compliance: Board members must be familiar with and adhere strictly to Florida Statutes Chapter 720 and the association's specific governing documents (declaration, bylaws, rules, and policies). This includes staying informed about legislative changes and consulting with legal counsel as needed.
Financial Stewardship
- Board members are responsible for sound financial management, including:
- Developing and adopting annual budgets.
- Overseeing the collection of dues and assessments.
- Ensuring transparent financial reporting and maintaining accurate, itemized records for at least 7 years.
- Planning for long-term maintenance and capital reserves, which may involve professional reserve studies.
Maintenance and Vendor Oversight
- The board is responsible for the physical well-being of common areas.
- This involves evaluating and managing vendor contracts (e.g., landscaping, security, pool services) and ensuring proactive maintenance.
Rules Enforcement & Conflict Resolution
- Directors must enforce community rules and architectural guidelines fairly and consistently to maintain a harmonious living environment. This involves clear, objective decision-making and mediating disputes.
Meetings & Administration
- The role involves regular administrative duties, including:
- Attending and participating in all scheduled board meetings.
- Ensuring proper notice is given for meetings and assessments (e.g., 48 hours for regular board meetings, 14 days for special assessments).
- Maintaining minutes of all meetings in written form.
Transparency & Communication
- Strong leadership requires open communication with homeowners.
- Boards must provide regular updates, ensure access to official records, and facilitate open discussions at meetings.
Time Commitment & Requirements
- Mandatory Education: Florida law requires newly elected or appointed directors to complete department-approved education within 90 days of their election or appointment.
- Directors also have annual continuing education requirements based on the number of parcels in the community.
Active Participation
- This is not a passive role. Board members are expected to be active participants in discussions, research issues (Duty of Care), and make informed decisions, using their business judgment for the benefit of the community.
Ethical Conduct
- Board members must adhere to a high standard of integrity, loyalty, and accountability, avoiding conflicts of interest and acting honestly in the best interest of the community.
